About Barcelona

The city is located in northeast of Spain on the Mediterranean coast.
Barcelona has a population of 1,6 million inhabitants in its municipality, about five million people live in its metropolitan area. Spoken languages are Spanish and Catalan.

The city is a major cultural and economic center, not only in southern Europe. In the 2014 ranking of the Global Cities Index official website (A.T. Kearney) Barcelona was listed on rank 24 behind Frankfurt (23) and ahead of Melbourne.

Some of Barcelona's many attractions are: Sagrada Família, the Church of the Holy Family was designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí official website. Today his buildings are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, other works of Gaudi can be seen at Casa Batlló, Casa Vicens, Bellesguard (also known as Casa Figueres), Palau Güell and Park Güell.
The Palau Nacional, the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) official website. The Museu Picasso official website presents in five adjoining medieval palaces an exorbitant collection of artworks by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.
The architectural museum Poble Espanyol, and nearby are the Magic Fountains of Montjuïc. The city is also home to one of the world most famous football clubs: FC Barcelona.
