About Roseau

Dominica, a small mountainous tropical island in the Caribbean. The town is located on the west coast of the island at the the Roseau River, after which the town was named by the French in the 17th century.

Roseau is the oldest and most important urban settlement on the island today it has a population of about 16,500 inhabitants. Spoken languages are English (official) and French based Antillean Creole (Kwéyòl).
The city scape is a combination of modern and colonial (French Style) architecture. Woodbridge Bay north of the town is Roseau's deepwater port.

Points of interest are: the Old Market of Roseau (also known as Old Market Plaza), the Dominica Museum on the quay in Roseau (the national museum), Morne Watt (a stratovolcano, 1,224 m), the Boiling Lake, a flooded fumarole 10 km east of Roseau.
