About MalaboSatellite view is showing Malabo, the national capital of![]() Malabo is the oldest city in Equatorial Guinea. The city was founded in 1827 by the British as Port Clarence. In the beginning the port was used as a naval base, aimed to prevent the slave trade. Many liberated slaves settled in the city. Today Malabo is the commercial and financial center of the country. The city has a population of about 100,000 inhabitants. Spoken languages are Spanish (official), some French, Portuguese and local Niger–Congo languages, and pidgin.
