Macau enjoys a high degree of autonomy in all areas except in defence and foreign affairs, its social and economic system, lifestyle, rights, and freedoms are to remain unchanged for at least 50 years after the transfer of sovereignty to P.R. China in 1999. Macau has a thriving gambling industry and is the highest-volume gambling centre in the world even greater than that of Las Vegas. |
