Arts and culture: Nelson-Atkins Art Gallery, The Kansas City Art Institute, The Kansas City Conservatory of Music, The Lyric Opera, the Kansas City Symphony, and the Jazz Museum. Music and life concerts are available in a number of venues near Crown Center as well as in the Power and Light district, newest addition to the downtown Power & Light District is "The Jones", a combination of rooftop pool and lounge. Shopping areas are the Historic Westport Square, the Crown Center shopping mall complex, and the Country Club Plaza. Kansas City is home to the University of Missouri and the University of Kansas Medical Center. The city is also a center for communication, transportation, and financial services. Kansas City has a population of about 476,000 inhabitants and over 2 million live in the metropolitan area.
